Ontario snowmobile clubs pay for grooming by selling trail permits. Both your local club and the OFSC are non-profit organizations with a mandate to put as much of your permit money as possible to work on the trails you ride.
Remember, unlike some other jurisdictions which provide sled registration or gas tax rebates to help fund trails, Ontario clubs depend on permit sales to pay their costs. Ontario law says that a Snowmobile Trail Permit is required for recreational snowmobiling on Prescribed Trails operated by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC).
